Choose your transfer around the exact property you are staying at, not just “Mérida.” Save the full address, neighbourhood, postcode and map pin before flying. Numbered streets make an incomplete address surprisingly unhelpful, particularly when the listing name differs from the name on the building.
Begin with the airport operator’s ground-transport directory and ATY’s dedicated airport-route page. ASUR lists taxi and car-rental options. ATY is the reference for the public route. Check close to departure because an old blog’s stop list may describe a previous arrangement.
Public transport works when the whole route works
Checked on 1 October 2026, ATY’s airport page identifies R907 as an IE-TRAM service linking La Plancha, the airport and central hotel areas. That description does not promise a stop at every hotel. Open the official map and locate the stop that suits your address.
Now examine the final stretch. Would you be comfortable walking it with your luggage? Will someone in the group need a step-free route or a shorter walk? If another ride is needed, compare the combined cost and effort with a direct transfer.
Confirm four things before relying on this option:
- The operating schedule for your arrival day, allowing for time after landing
- Where to board at the airport and which direction to take
- The current payment method and how to get it ready
- How to reach the property entrance from your final stop
ATY’s route directory includes airport-service variants. Match the actual route rather than assuming every vehicle with a central destination takes the same path. Our first-journey guide to Va-y-Ven and IE-TRAM covers the preparation without locking you into a fare that may change.
Choose a direct ride for a simpler arrival
A taxi or prearranged transfer is worth comparing when you have bulky luggage, need assistance or are staying away from a useful stop. Request a total quote for your exact address and group size. Ask what happens if the flight is delayed and whether waiting changes the price.
With a booked transfer, save the company name, meeting instructions, contact details and cancellation terms somewhere you can open without a data connection. Confirm child seats, wheelchair arrangements and luggage capacity directly. A generic vehicle category does not establish that those needs are covered.
For app-based rides, check the permitted pickup arrangements at the time of travel. This guide does not assume a particular app can collect you at the terminal, and it does not recommend walking off airport grounds to find a driver.
Rent a car for the days you will use it
Airport collection can be practical when the car is part of your wider itinerary. Compare the complete quote, deposit, coverage, fuel arrangements and return location. Ask the accommodation about parking before committing.
If your first few days are mostly city walks, price a later pickup too. A car sitting in a paid parking space may add expense without making those days easier. Allow time to understand the agreement and check the vehicle before setting off.
Keep one workable fallback for a delay, payment problem or service change. The right transfer is the one your group can complete from arrivals to the front door with the information you actually have.
